Almost 200 years ago in 1814, Mayon Volcano erupted so violently that it completely devastated the town of Cagsawa and its neighboring places.
As the worst eruption to date, only the belfry of its church was left standing and above ground level as it covered the whole town and all its residents as it took shelter in the past volcanic eruptions for protection.
Fast forward 2013, the Municipality of Daraga is abuzz in its preparation of its commemoration of said 1814 eruption of Mt. Mayon which is often admired as the most perfect-coned active volcano in the world ever.
Rising alongside the Cagsawa National Park is the redevelopment of another park which was wiped out during the massive floodings of Milenyo, 2006.
